IRB Building, Howard University

The College of Arts and Sciences at Howard University invites the entire Howard community, external partners, secondary school leaders, faculty, staff, and students from across disciplines to participate in this comprehensive exploration of artificial intelligence's transformative impact on teaching, research, and professional practice.

This symposium marks the formal launch of ASCEND-AI, a $4 million Department of Education FIPSE-funded collaboration between Howard University and Bowie State University, while providing a platform for broad community engagement with AI literacy initiatives. Through keynote addresses from industry leaders, faculty presentations showcasing disciplinary AI integration, student perspectives on AI's role in education, and collaborative discussions about responsible AI implementation, participants will examine both the opportunities and challenges artificial intelligence presents for higher education and workforce development.

The symposium emphasizes the distinctive role HBCUs play in ensuring diverse representation in AI development and application while maintaining academic integrity and critical evaluation frameworks.
