Ethical guidelines and best practices for AI adoption in research and education.

Ethical AI for Our Community

The ASCEND-AI Responsible AI Framework provides a set of principles designed to guide faculty and students in the ethical use of artificial intelligence.

Core Principles

  1. Human-Centricity: AI should augment, not replace, human decision-making and creativity.

  2. Fairness & Inclusion: actively identifying and mitigating bias in AI models and datasets.

  3. Transparency: clearly disclosing when AI tools are used in research or coursework.

  4. Data Privacy: Protecting the sensitive data of our students and research subjects.

This framework is adapted to the specific contexts of our HBCU institutions, ensuring that our values are reflected in our technology use.
